Shanghai, China (AFP) – Typhoon Bebinca made landfall in Shanghai on Monday morning, Chinese state media reported, with a red alert in place as strong winds and torrential rains lashed the megacity.

Highways have been closed, flights have been cancelled and some coastal residents have been evacuated, city authorities said.
