A new grant of DKK 26 million (aprox. 3.5 million Euro) from Industriens Fond will expand the reach of the Klimaklar Produktionsvirksomhed (Climate-Ready Production Companies) program, which has already helped approximately 1,000 Danish companies improve their climate readiness.

The program supports companies with CO2 accounting, emission reduction strategies, and climate communication, empowering them to meet growing green demands and align with sustainable practices.

Klimaklar Produktionsvirksomhed, initiated by Industriens Fond and Dansk Industri in 2022, provides a digital learning platform with modules that guide businesses in data collection and CO2 accounting. This free resource, targeting companies in production, transport, wholesale, and supply industries, is available to over 50,000 Danish companies.

With the new funding, the program is extended until the end of 2028, aiming to support 9,000 companies through tailored Klimaklar courses.

“Klimaklar Produktionsvirksomhed has proven its value as a catalyst for green transformation in Danish industry. It is now expected by lawmakers, customers, and partners that companies manage their CO2 accounts and take initiatives to reduce emissions. It’s a matter of competitiveness, and we must involve even more companies,” said Thomas Hofman-Bang, CEO of Industriens Fond.

The program’s expansion will introduce tools addressing CO2 reductions across value chains and circular solutions, reflecting increasing demands for businesses to assess emissions associated with procurement, transport, and distribution. According to Hofman-Bang, the development of these tools will begin in early 2025, ensuring the program remains relevant for both new participants and businesses looking to intensify their efforts.

Kinga Szabo Christensen, Director of Advisory Services at Dansk Industri, emphasized the importance of simplifying CO2 accounting for smaller businesses. “The CO2 account should not be another burden for small businesses; it should be a foundation for development and dialogue with customers and suppliers about shared responsibilities for green transformation,” she said.

By addressing challenges like linking climate impact to circular economy and material reduction, Klimaklar Produktionsvirksomhed continues to position itself as a critical resource for businesses navigating the transition to sustainability.
