Romania endured its coldest week of the winter from 17 to 24 February 2025, with temperatures plunging as low as -20°C in mountainous regions. The extreme cold was accompanied by heavy snowfall, prompting authorities to issue a yellow weather warning for much of the country’s south and southeast, including Bucharest, where wind gusts reached up to 45 km/h.
