Havana, Cuba (AFP) – Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel warned Saturday that a hurricane was bearing down on the island, with the storm coming as authorities scrambled to restore power following a nationwide outage.

Authorities in the east of the island “are already working hard to protect the people and economic resources, given the imminent arrival of Hurricane Oscar,” he said in a post on X.
