Hong Kong on Tuesday recorded its highest daily rainfall in August since 1884, the city’s weather observatory said, after the highest-tier rainstorm warning was issued for the fourth time in eight days.

“Until 2 pm, 355.7 millimetres of rainfall were recorded at the Observatory’s Headquarters today, breaking the highest daily rainfall record for August since 1884,” the weather bureau said on its website.
