Air Quality

Air quality refers to the condition of the air in a given location as determined by the concentration of pollutants and particulate matter that may affect human health, ecosystems and visibility. It is commonly assessed by measuring substances such as fine particles (PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀), ground-level ozone, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide. Air quality is influenced by sources including transport, industry, energy production, agriculture and natural events, and is monitored to inform public health guidance and environmental policy.
