Alcohol

Alcohols are organic chemical compounds characterized by one or more hydroxyl groups bonded to carbon atoms, with ethanol being the most widely known example. Alcohol is used in products and processes including fuels, solvents, disinfectants, pharmaceuticals and alcoholic beverages. In environmental and industrial contexts, alcohols are studied in relation to chemical production, emissions, biofuels, public health and pollution.
