Atmospheric Rivers

Atmospheric rivers are long, narrow corridors of concentrated water vapor that transport large amounts of moisture through the atmosphere from lower to higher latitudes. They can produce heavy rain or snowfall when they make landfall or encounter mountains, and they play an important role in the global water cycle, regional weather, flooding, drought recovery, and polar precipitation.
