Carbon

Carbon is a chemical element (C) essential to life and the Earth system. It is found in the atmosphere mainly as carbon dioxide, but also in other forms such as carbon monoxide, and in soils, oceans, and fossil fuels. Carbon plays a central role in climate, energy, and environmental policy, including carbon storage, carbon pricing, and emissions reduction.
