Climate Sensitivity

Climate sensitivity is a measure used in climate science to estimate how much the Earth’s average surface temperature will increase in response to a sustained rise in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations, commonly expressed as the warming expected from a doubling of carbon dioxide levels. It reflects the combined influence of feedback processes within the climate system, including changes in water vapour, clouds, ice cover and radiation balance, and is central to projections of long-term global warming.
