Climatology

Climatology is the scientific study of Earth’s climate, typically defined as weather patterns averaged over periods of 30 years or more. It examines climate variability, the mechanisms behind climate changes, and modern climate change, using observations and climate models to understand past, present, and future climate dynamics. Climatology is part of the atmospheric sciences and overlaps with oceanography, biogeochemistry, and physical geography.
