Earth

Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the only known planet to support life. It is covered mostly by oceans, with land forming continents and polar ice sheets, and has a dynamic atmosphere composed primarily of nitrogen and oxygen. Tectonic activity shapes mountains, volcanoes, and earthquakes, while the planet’s liquid outer core generates a protective magnetosphere. Earth’s climate system is driven by the distribution of solar energy, atmospheric and ocean circulation, and the water cycle, supporting ecosystems and the cycling of carbon, nitrogen, and other elements essential for life.
