El Niño

El Niño is the warm phase of a recurring climate pattern in the tropical Pacific Ocean characterized by higher-than-average sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific. It alters atmospheric circulation and influences weather patterns worldwide, often bringing increased rainfall to some regions and drought to others. El Niño events occur irregularly, typically every two to seven years.
