Energy

Energy is a conserved physical quantity that can be transferred or converted between systems, recognizable in the performance of work, heat, or light. Forms of energy include kinetic energy, potential energy, chemical energy, radiant energy, internal energy, and rest energy. All living organisms take in and release energy, and Earth’s climate and ecosystem processes are driven primarily by solar energy. Energy is essential for human activity, including industry, transportation, and electricity generation, and its production and use affect greenhouse gas emissions and the environment.
