Europe is a continent in the Northern Hemisphere, mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere, covering about 10.2 million km², or roughly 2% of Earth’s surface. It shares the landmass of Eurasia with Asia and is commonly separated from it by the Ural Mountains, Ural River, Caspian Sea, Greater Caucasus, Black Sea, and Turkish straits. Europe features a wide range of climates and ecosystems, from Arctic regions in the north to Mediterranean areas in the south.
