Guyana

Guyana is a country on the northern coast of South America bordered by Venezuela, Brazil, Suriname, and the Atlantic Ocean. Much of its territory lies within the Guiana Shield, one of the world’s oldest geological formations and a region of exceptional tropical biodiversity, with extensive rainforests, rivers, and wetlands. Guyana is an important location for research on biodiversity, tropical ecology, climate change, freshwater ecosystems, geology, forest conservation, and sustainable development. Its largely intact forests also make the country significant for studies of carbon storage and ecosystem resilience.
