Hydrology

Hydrology is the branch of Earth sciences that studies the movement, distribution and quality of water on and beneath the Earth’s surface. It examines processes such as precipitation, evaporation, infiltration, runoff and groundwater flow within the water cycle. Hydrology supports water resource management, flood forecasting, drought assessment and the understanding of climate and ecosystem dynamics.
