Ice Melt

Ice melt refers to the process by which glaciers, ice sheets, sea ice and snow cover lose mass due to rising air or ocean temperatures. It contributes to sea level rise when land-based ice melts and affects freshwater availability, ocean circulation and regional climate patterns. Ice melt is monitored through satellite observations, field measurements and climate modeling.
