Macedonia

Macedonia refers to North Macedonia, officially the Republic of North Macedonia, a landlocked country in southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula. The country was known until 2019 as the Republic of Macedonia and is distinct from the wider historical and geographic region of Macedonia and the region of Macedonia in northern Greece. North Macedonia is characterized by mountains, lakes, river valleys and continental and Mediterranean climate influences, and is associated with air pollution, wildfires, biodiversity, water management and climate change impacts in the Balkans.
