Marine Plastic Pollution

Marine plastic pollution refers to the accumulation of plastic waste in oceans and coastal environments, including large debris and microplastics. It originates from land-based sources such as mismanaged waste and river discharge, as well as from maritime activities. Marine plastic pollution affects marine organisms through ingestion, entanglement and habitat disruption and is studied in relation to ecosystem health, food webs, human exposure and waste management policies.
