Natura 2000 is a network of protected areas across the European Union established to conserve biodiversity and safeguard habitats and species of European importance. Created under the EU Birds and Habitats Directives, it includes terrestrial and marine sites managed to balance conservation with sustainable human activities. Natura 2000 plays a key role in protecting ecosystems and maintaining ecological connectivity across Europe.
