Nauru

Nauru, officially the Republic of Nauru and formerly known as Pleasant Island, is an island country and microstate in the South Pacific Ocean within the Micronesia region of Oceania. The island has been heavily shaped by phosphate mining, which caused extensive environmental degradation across much of its interior. Nauru is highly vulnerable to sea level rise, coastal erosion, water scarcity and other climate-related pressures affecting low-lying Pacific island nations.
