Pregnancy is the physiological process in which a developing embryo and later fetus grows within the uterus of a female organism, typically lasting around 40 weeks in humans. It involves complex hormonal, biological and metabolic changes that support fetal development and maternal health. Pregnancy is studied in relation to reproduction, health outcomes, environmental exposures and medical care.
