Ramsar Site

A Ramsar Site is a wetland area designated as being of international importance under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, an international treaty adopted in 1971. These sites are recognized for their ecological significance, particularly for waterfowl habitat, biodiversity and ecosystem services. Ramsar Sites promote the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands worldwide.
