Rivers

Rivers are natural flowing watercourses that move water across landscapes from higher elevations toward lakes, seas or oceans. They are key components of the hydrological cycle and shape landforms through erosion, transport and deposition of sediments. Rivers provide freshwater resources, support ecosystems and play important roles in agriculture, energy production and human settlements.
