Snow

Snow is a form of solid precipitation composed of ice crystals that form in clouds when atmospheric temperatures are below freezing and water vapour deposits directly as ice. Snowflakes develop unique crystalline structures depending on temperature and humidity conditions as they fall through the atmosphere. Snow cover influences surface temperature, water storage and ecosystems, and plays a key role in seasonal hydrological cycles in many regions.
