Specialist Birds

Specialist birds are bird species adapted to specific habitats, food sources or environmental conditions and often dependent on narrow ecological requirements for survival. They may rely on particular vegetation types, wetlands, forests, coastlines or climatic conditions that limit their distribution and adaptability. Specialist birds are especially vulnerable to habitat loss, environmental change and climate shifts because they are less able to adjust to changing ecosystems than generalist species.
