Sundarbans

The Sundarbans is a vast mangrove forest region located in the delta of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers along the Bay of Bengal, spanning parts of Bangladesh and India. It is the largest contiguous mangrove forest in the world and is recognised for its rich biodiversity, including the Bengal tiger, numerous bird species, reptiles and aquatic life. The Sundarbans plays a critical role in coastal protection, carbon storage and fisheries, while remaining vulnerable to sea level rise, cyclones, salinity changes and human pressures.
