French President Emmanuel Macron warned on Thursday Europe did not need to abandon climate action to revive the continent’s lacklustre economy.

“I defend our Green Deal and our climate agenda. It must be made compatible with competitiveness, but it would be a strategic error to say that competitiveness means abandoning the climate,” Macron said after talks with EU leaders.
