France’s average temperature broke a record for the month of June on Monday, the national weather service said, as the country swelters under a brutal heatwave.

Average daytime and nighttime temperatures reached 29.8 °C, beating the previous high reached on June 30, 2025, according to provisional data released by Meteo-France.

All-time temperature records were broken in several French cities, with the thermometer hitting 41.9 °C in the southwest city of Bordeaux.
