Cattle

Cattle are domesticated hoofed mammals belonging to the species Bos taurus and Bos indicus, raised worldwide for meat, milk, hides and other agricultural products. They are ruminants with a specialized digestive system that enables them to break down fibrous plant material such as grasses. Cattle production plays a significant role in global food systems and rural economies and is associated with land use change, water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, particularly methane.
