Global Warming

Global warming is the long-term increase in Earth’s average surface temperature, with the most notable rise occurring since the late 20th century. Observations show that global temperatures have increased by roughly 1 °C (2 °F) since 1880 relative to mid-20th century levels. This warming is primarily driven by human emissions of greenhouse gases and is the central factor behind many climate change impacts, such as ice melt, sea-level rise, and shifts in ecosystems.
