Seaweed

Seaweed refers to large marine algae that grow in coastal waters and attach to rocks or other substrates. Unlike seagrasses, seaweeds are not flowering plants and lack true roots, stems and leaves. They form important habitats in nearshore environments, contribute to primary production and nutrient cycling and are used in food, agriculture and industrial applications.
