Wildlife

Wildlife refers to undomesticated animals and uncultivated plants living in their natural habitats without direct human introduction. While the term often evokes animals untouched by humans, most wildlife is affected by human activity. Wildlife exists in all ecosystems, from remote wilderness to urban environments, forming distinct ecological groups. Some species can pose risks to human health, safety, or property, while many provide economic, educational, or cultural value. Human activities such as habitat destruction, overconsumption, intensive farming, and population growth have caused global wildlife populations to decline by 68% since 1970, contributing to what scientists identify as the ongoing sixth mass extinction.
