Global greenhouse gas emissions remained at record levels in 2025, said a UN report Wednesday that warned Earth would warm 2.6 °C this century even if governments met their latest climate pledges.
“Emissions remain at record levels. And national climate plans and current policies fall dangerously short, pointing to 2.6 °C to 2.8 °C of warming,” said United Nations chief Antonio Guterres as he launched the annual Emissions Gap Report.
